Ask a question:

Cannot Open/Save/Preview file

Solution User will be unable to open an attachment from Outlook. The attachment will be one sent regularly, and always with the exact same name and file type.

Outlook saves attachments in a very well hidden temp folder. These ones that weren't opening were all named the same, and Windows will add (incremental number) to files named the same being saved in the same file. The limit is apparently 200. Find the folder, move or delete the old files and Outlook will work fine. If we could get the sender to ad a time stamp to the file name that'd be optimal.

Location in Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.Outlook\SH1OLU16\

A note on very well hidden - you won't be able to navigate directly to this folder, even with View Hidden Files on. You must paste the whole address into an Explorer window.
